Description

The Zastava M59/66 is a variant of the Yugoslav SKS rifle, which is a semi-automatic carbine designed in 1943 by Sergei Gavrilovich Simonov. The SKS was the Soviet Union’s first successful attempt at designing a modern semi-automatic carbine.

The M59/66 is a later version of the SKS produced by the Zastava Arms factory in Serbia. It was manufactured for the Yugoslav People’s Army and later the armed forces of various countries that emerged after the breakup of Yugoslavia.

The M59/66 is similar to the original SKS but features some modifications, including a permanently attached “pig sticker” bayonet, a gas cutoff valve for launching rifle grenades, and the ability to launch rifle grenades using blank cartridges.
